Designing connections along the East Segment

A Kansas City Design Center studio explored safer crossings, cultural public spaces, and neighborhood connections.

The East Segment study focused on pedestrian safety, culture and public space, community priorities, and neighborhood infill.

Ideas explored by the studio

The studio also studied an overpass dog park, a sunken garden pavilion, and a Cliff Drive pump track. Its 14th Street and Paseo work showed how temporary safety changes could lead to a permanent raised intersection with wayfinding and native planting.
